  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2011 - Desiree Janene Fowler, Music Teacher at Ramon Cortines High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Desiree Janene Fowler's commitment to excellence in Education.

    Fowler, who currently holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from California State University, and is working to complete her Master's Degree in Choral Conducting, began teaching choir and guitar in 2004 at Nightingale Middle School, where she had the opportunity to build a choral and guitar program from the ground up.

    Now teaching advanced women's chorus, concert choir, vocal jazz, mixed chorus and three levels of guitar, including advanced and intermediate guitar orchestra and beginning guitar, Fowler is a very active music instructor. She sponsors school music clubs like Rock Band, Vocal Technique and Chamber Guitar ensembles, and hosts, coordinates and participates in events all over the state with esteemed organizations for both choir and guitar.

    "I have been extremely fortunate to have always had amazing music instructors," Fowler said about her growing career. "From middle school all the way to my master's work in choral conducting I have learned from some of the most successful programs in the state."

    Enriched by the lives of her students and their achievements, Fowler hopes to continue learning and refining her skills as a musician and teacher and is currently working toward her master's degree in choral conducting from California State University. A member of Guitar Foundation of America, National Association for Music Education, American Choral Director's Association and Southern California Vocal Association, Fowler also serves as vice-president of Los Angeles Secondary Music Teachers Association and is an ambassador for the non-profit organization, Little Kids Rock.

    Fowler has assisted students in acquiring successes including scholarships and national songwriting awards. She was chosen to be one of Los Angeles's Unified School District's Honor Choir Conductors and District Instructional Festival Adjudicators. She maintains partnerships with and helps lead annual projects with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Guitar Foundation of America, the LA Opera, Little Kids Rock, Southern California Vocal Association and the Los Angeles Secondary Music Teachers Association. She has led teacher trainings and professional developments and is frequently asked to give presentations for graduate music teacher courses. She is the recipient of a University Honor Award for Leadership, Scholarship and Musicianship, was named Most Outstanding Student in Music Education, received an Inspiration Award through Parent, Teacher, Student Association and conducted several ensembles that received numerous superior, gold and first place awards. When Desiree isn't busy working, she enjoys songwriting, photography and softball.
