  • Rolls-Royce agrees pension fund longevity swap
  • Rolls-Royce and the Trustees of the Rolls-Royce Pension Fund have agreed a longevity swap that will give additional security to all members of the company's final salary pension scheme. The contract with Deutsche Bank reduces the risk on approximately £3bn of the fund's liabilities. The cost of this transaction will be borne by the pension fund and will have no material effect on the funding arrangements. Around 37,000 pensioners are covered by this agreement.

  • Schools switch to mobile apps to solve Maths problem
  • A new suite of smart phone apps has been launched to help students study Maths. With over 17,000 downloads in the first year and a place in Apple's 'new and noteworthy' list, schools are finding a new way to solve their Maths problem. Up to 45% of students currently fail to achieve a Grade C in their GCSE Maths. Low pass rates caused 1800 schools to fall below national targets in 2010.
