  • (1888PressRelease) February 02, 2012 - For Autumn/Winter 2011, Sportscraft embraces a strong feeling for heritage and nostalgia, with a nod to our 96 year old legacy in the Australian apparel industry. This season, Sportscraft has captured the essence of key trends from our past, and has invigorated them for today and our future.

In line with the 'nostalgic' influence, the collection has been inspired by intense colour, traditional prints executed in a modern way as well as a strong fabric direction, with importance placed on wool, leather and suede. The colour palette for the season revolves around deep autumnal browns, reds, gold, teal green and deep blues.

Themed Classic Heritage the February collection features a broad range of prints, from heritage foulards, through to fine paisley's and small feminine patterns. This is offset with a brilliant colour palette of burnt orange, fatigue, silver grey, chambray and midnight blue. The key categories for this collection include neutral bottoms and grayed out denim, matched back with soft jackets, our iconic trench, light weight knits and printed silk shirts. The Signature collection offers a great back to work alternative, and our accessories complement with clean shapes, luxury detailing and seasonal pop colours. http://www.sportscraft.com.au/signature/w1/i2814221/

The month of March sees the collection take on a modern classic edge. The prints move into more decorative and sophisticated, including stripes and paisleys. The colour palette deepens in March with rich jewel tones, cobalt's, teals and bottle greens. This is complimented by burnt sienna, winter white, deep navy and aubergine. Bright coloured merino knits and item jackets are key in this collection. The accessories mimic the trend seen in the apparel, with refined urban shapes in handbags, simple belts in reptile and natural textures and decorative print scarves. Footwear sees fun ballet flats and mid heel sophisticated knee high boots.

April sees the introduction of Luxury Heritage. The prints feature exploded floral and delicate winter blooms while the colour palette is rich with chocolates, caramels, cinnamons and French navy. The use of fabrics is also luxurious, with velvets, suede, wools, leather and textured knits and outerwear. The accessories for April mimic the colour palette and feature woven leather detailing in totes and mini bags, heavy gauge knitted cable and chunky scarves as well as ethnic touches in jewellery and chokers.

Country Classics is the theme for the month of May, with romantic botanical prints and a feminine colour palette. Colours such as burgundy, chartreuse and cerise are offset with neutral minks, toffee and winter white. Key categories are coloured cord bottoms, knit dresses, luxurious coats and a mother's day knitwear collection. Within the Signature collection, lace and metallic brings a touch of luxury. In the accessories collection, snake and python prints are featured within handbags and scarves. Headwear is also a must have, with felted fedoras and knitted beanies.

The menswear collection for Sportscraft aligns itself with the women's themes and colour palette, to make a cohesive story within the store environment. Within the February collection, the colour palette of burnt orange, fatigue, khaki and chambray is featured through wintery check shirts, cotton twill jackets, merino knitwear and chinos. This is complemented with a collection of urban accessories. http://www.sportscraft.com.au/www/599/1001127/displayproductcategory/1001210.html

March sees the introduction of new interest in layering and knitwear plus a real focus on outwear. The colour palette is focused on the cobalt, teal and bottle green offset by burnt sienna, winter white and deep navy.

The April collection picks up on the Luxury Heritage theme with fabrications such as leather, wool melton, and heavier gauge knitwear and salt and pepper textures. Highlights of chocolate, caramel, French navy and aubergine offset this beautifully. Accessories come to the fore this month, with knit scarves, beanies and canvas duffels with washed leather trims.

Finally the May collection captures the country classics trend, with tweed and plaid a hero. Key items such as the melton coat, cabled knitwear, winter weight shirting and classic moleskin blazers are must haves.

Sportscraft Signature for men introduces a new palette into the traditional collection of suiting and shirts. Accents of colour are added into the layering knitwear and accessories.

Sportscraft's Autumn/Winter fashion collection will be available in Sportscraft stores, David Jones and selected Myer stores and online at www.sportscraft.com.au nationally in February.
