  • Pittsburgh, PA (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2011 - Annette Gross, Director of Placement Services at Wesley Spectrum Services-Placement Services, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Annette Gross's commitment to excellence in Children and Youth Services.

Gross, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Sociology from Seton Hill University and a Master's of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, is certified in multidimensional treatment foster care through Total Family Consultants with over twenty-four years experience in the field.

Beginning at the Westmoreland County Children's Bureau as an intern and later hired to provide general protective services to families active with the Children's Bureau, Gross soon advanced into a supervisory role and county manager. In 2005, she accepted her current position as program director for placement services after obtaining her master's degree, overseeing the foster care and adoption services.

Gross is responsible for the oversight of the foster care program that offers out-of-home placement services for children from birth to eighteen years of age, which are referred from either child welfare, juvenile justice or mental health. She provides oversight of adoption services, providing services to families who are interested in building their family through adoption and to children who are in need of permanency. She is also responsible for program compliance and growth in both capacities.

Having had the privilege of working with great mentors, Gross said, "I enjoy engaging with individuals and seeking their input related to program improvement and best practice. I enjoy being innovative and developing programs that meet the needs of the children and families we serve."

Hoping to advocate for children at a higher level within the state system, Gross would also like to get involved on a state or federal level cabinet committee that serves the needs of children.

"The children I work with are often overlooked," Gross said, due to budget cuts and so forth. "I feel passionate about advocating for their needs and their futures."

Gross is a member of the Pennsylvania Resource Parent Association and the Southwest Pennsylvania Cooperative Network and has participated on several state level committees relating to children and child welfare related issues. She's also received several awards from the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Council for her collaborative work in securing permanency for children. When Annette isn't busy working, she enjoys exercising, crocheting and doing glass art.
