On May 7, 2012, SGS successfully conducted an expert panel discussion on Asset Integrity Management (AIM) along with advanced NDT techniques' demonstration session at the Regent Plaza Hotel in Karachi, Pakistan.

SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, was authorized as the Control Agency Industrial Security in Catalonia, Spain by the Generalitat of Catalonia on July 19, 2011, and has successfully performed industrial safety inspections in the region since then.
SGS was assigned a contract to conduct drilling equipment inspection (DEI) for Maersk Drilling in Australia on January 12, 2012. Throughout the entire contract, scheduled for three weeks, SGS inspected 400 sections of drill pipe, drill collars and Heavy Weight drill pipe to ensure the safety and reliability of the drilling equipment in time for rig mobilization in Egypt by early February.
SGS CORREL Rail welcomed four new members to its consulting team on January 9, 2012. Phil Taylor, Richard Bexon, Simon Lawson and Wendy Morgan will enhance the existing capability and support the continued growth of the SGS Global Competence Center for Rail.
On October 17, 2011, SGS NDT Training and Examination Center successfully acquired authorization from the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) to conduct PCN training and examinations for the ultrasonic testing (UT) of nodes, nozzles and "T" welds. Thus, SGS has become the first NDT training and examination institute in China that conduct TKY weld joints training.
In recognition of SGS's outstanding work and excellent service delivery SGS in Nigeria received the African Order of Merit in Testing and Pipeline Welding Inspection 2011 from the Institute for Government Research and Leadership Technology on June 25, 2011. SGS was presented with the award during a prestigious ceremony in the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
On October 21, 2011, SGS was assigned a contract to conduct a specialist hot hydrogen attack (hha) inspection for the Shell refinery in Batangas, Philippines. During the contract, scheduled from October 24-28, 2011, SGS's team of experts inspected piping and a heat exchanger for the possible occurrence of hot hydrogen attack by applying advanced non-destructive testing (ndt) methods.
In July 2011, SGS was assigned a contract to perform quality control services of wind towers for Sany Group, a heavy construction equipment manufacturer, in China. During the contract, which began in August 2011, SGS will conduct supervision services throughout the production process of wind towers to ensure that they will fulfill the applicable regulatory and client-specific requirements.
In September 2011, SGS was awarded a contract to conduct In-Service Inspection of wind turbines in Chaonan and Dahao wind farms in Guangdong, China by China Resources New Energy Group Co., Ltd. (CRNE). During the contract, scheduled from October 2011, SGS will ensure the best performance of the wind turbines.
On October 18, 2011 SGS successfully announced the authentication information list of stone CE certification alliance members comprising of enterprises which have obtained CE certification for their stone products from SGS.
On December 5-7, 2011, SGS will be participating in the Global Infrastructure Financing 2011 Conference (GIF) in London, UK. Throughout the event, SGS's team of experts will give a presentation, entitled 'Predicting Risk and Project Expenditures' and conduct a workshop on 'Unveiling the Future of Renewable Energy Infrastructure Financing'.
On July 2, 2011, SGS was assigned a contract to carry out Maintenance Optimization services for Grand Central Railway Company Limited, a privately-owned train operating company that provides passenger rail services in the United Kingdom.
On October 10, 2011, SGS Industrial Services in India was awarded a contract to conduct Project Monitoring services for the construction of 72 kilometers of new roads in Mumbai, India by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
On October 4, 2011, SGS attended the inauguration of Torresol Energy's Plant Gemasolar, the new concentrated solar power plant, located in Fuentes Andalucia, Spain as the world's leading inspection, testing, certification and verification company involved in the construction, commissioning and operation phase of the facility.

In 2010, SGS Industrial Services was assigned a contract to conduct comprehensive third-party services for the BP-1413 highway's viaduct over Can Fatjó (Cerdanyola del Vallès - Barcelona) in Spain. During the contract, SGS monitors the viaduct to ensure the quality as well as safe and durable operation.

SGS won a tender to conduct inspection services for storm water drainage project in Chennai, India, issued by the Corporation of Chennai, the civic body that governs the city of Chennai, in July 2010. During the 26-month contract, SGS will provide a wide range of inspection services, including Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
In July 2010, SGS Industrial Services won a contract in Indonesia to provide Vendor Assessment and Technical Audit services for Total E&P Indonesie. During the entire contract SGS assesses the ability of vendors to undertake specific orders in accordance with Total's specific requirements.

For the first time the Russian subsidiary of the SGS Group, SGS Vostok Limited, obtained the authorization to supervise construction works at hazardous, technically complex and unique construction sites.
For the road works on the Spanish highway 'Eix Diagonal' SGS has provided its supervision services. The project is worth 375 million Euros and covers a route of 70km between the Pyrenees and the coast near Barcelona.

In January 2011, SGS Industrial Services was assigned a two year contract to provide comprehensive technical services for two oil refineries in Chile, including Asset Integrity Management and Non-Destructive Testing.
From October 2010, SGS Industrial Services has provided Project Management Services for the design of a nine storey building which includes a parking lot, school and shopping center in the center of Valencia in Spain for Grupo Aza Investment.
