  • (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2016 - Navi Mumbai - Hundreds of citizens gathered to indulge in creativity and goodness during the Good Graffiti Fest at Kharghar. Good Graffiti was a first of it's kind, a community driven initiative to raise funds and create awareness about social organizations such as Prerana, Kalkeri Sangeet Vidhalay and others.

Citizens got their hands dirty painting on the fifty-feet graffiti wall, while children participated in the Face-painting and Art for Awareness sessions. The highlight of the event was the live-painting by over twenty-five professional artists. In 4-5 hours, the artists completed their paintings, highlighting different themes to inspire social responsibility, from diminishing mangroves to education to women equality. These paintings were available for sale to raise funds for the charity partners.

As much as Good Graffiti was a memorable experience for the visitors, it was an enriching experience for the artists. "It was an awesome event. I had a wonderful time painting with so many other artists. All I can say is that it was the best Valentine's Day of my life", said Priya, an artist whose work has been showcased by prestigious art galleries and festivals. Another artist, Tirthraj Zala said, "It was the best learning experience. We generally paint and exhibit our work. But this event broke barriers. Now, I can paint publically and also learnt the importance of communicating about my work with the public. I am mostly isolated, deep in my thoughts. This was a refreshing break from my inward journey."

The event was conceptualized and initiated by a startup called Karmyo, which works to instill social responsibility amongst people. The co-founder, Deepika Goyal, who is alum of NIFT, explained "Our mantra is to enable people to discover and spread Happiness through good-acts." While some paintings were sold on the spot, others are still available for sale and 100% proceeds would be donated to charities. These paintings have been displayed at the West 10 Art Gallery, Kharghar and are available at very reasonable charity prices. "Considering the response from public, artists and corporates, we are now gearing up for Good Graffiti 2017, which would be organised at a much larger scale" added Goyal
