  • Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2011 - Desmond M. Pittman, Co-Director of Second Chance Crisis Center, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Desmond M. Pittman's commitment to excellence in Non-Profit and Education.

Pittman, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Louisiana College, is a certified teacher through the state of Texas. He has been working in education and not-for-profit since 2009.

After being invited by the renowned Houston Third Ward Activist, Linda Smith, to accept a position with her non-profit organization to join forces and combat the may burdens that children are forced to carry in today's world, Pittman accepted. Based on a number of leadership abilities that Smith found in him at the young age of twenty-four, along with a variety of other factors, he was ready to take on the challenge.

Currently, Pittman is serving as co-director of the Center, which was founded in 2003 and prides itself on revitalizing communities on the foundations of education, social development and economic regeneration. One of his main objectives at the Center is to provide character education and discipline management to elementary school-aged children.

"Although at twenty-four-years-old I lacked lengthy professional experience as an ideal partner, Ms. Smith realized my alignment of street smarts and education," Pittman said of his acceptance. "As a product of my environment I gravitated to the elements of it. Today, no vanity is more important than living my life as an example to others through humanitarian acts, family, teaching, mentoring, coaching and character development."

Pittman is also an elementary school teacher at Hemenway Elementary School, teaching grade (specify grade level) in all subjects. He has been teaching since 2009. When Desmond isn't busy teaching and volunteering at the Center, he enjoys watching his favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints.
