Thornhill Communications Llc - Company Description
Karla Coleman, president and CEO of Thornhill Communications LLC, has more than 20 years of experience in public relations, marketing, event planning, editorial and content development for Fortune 500 companies. Thornhill Communications is a full-service communications firm located in Auburn Hills, Mich. and offers public relations, strategic planning, writing, and event production services.

Coleman started her career as a reporter at the Stamford Advocate and Greenwich Time newspapers in Connecticut. She soon made the leap to public relations when she moved to Hartford to work for Aetna Life & Casualty Co. There she was the spokesperson for the Aetna Foundation, produced the foundation’s annual report and handled media relations for the overall company.

After leaving Aetna, she moved to the Detroit area where she held several PR positions for such companies as The Detroit Medical Center, Camp Dresser and McKee, CIGNA HealthCare and DMB&B, before kicking off her career at GM.

For 12 years, from 1997 to 2009, Coleman managed public relations for several GM brands including Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick and Chevrolet. She also lead a team of writers and editors, photographers, art directors, graphic artists, animators, and printers to spearheaded a project that consolidated all the 11 divisional press materials, from Chevrolet to Cadillac, in the US, Canada and Mexico, into one media kit in three languages. This new media kit and the process born from its development saved GM millions in printing, agency, production and shipping fees in the first year alone.

Coleman’s corporate/supplier team also produced all the multi-media materials for GM’s North American operations and for media events in Tokyo, Geneva, and Paris. She also coordinated multiple special events involving media, celebrities, executives and government officials.

Coleman is a graduate of The Ohio State University School of Journalism and the University of Michigan’s MBA program.
