  • (1888PressRelease) May 13, 2016 - Design and branding agency Silk Pearce has designed the creative concept to represent Norfolk & Norwich Festival for the fifth year. Its visually striking designs have appeared on banners and posters across Norwich city centre in preparation for the internationally celebrated arts festival, which will run from 13th - 29th May 2016.

Silk Pearce has worked closely with Norfolk & Norwich Festival since it first won the pitch for branding in 2011. In 2016, the company has delivered the entire visual creative and branding concept for the festival. Its designs have been used for all promotional materials from major roadside and venue graphics to the festival website, posters and brochures, pop-up displays, leaflets and t-shirts.

Lis Jennings, Head of Communications, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, said: "Silk Pearce has created a bold creative concept for this year's Festival; the work is eye-catching and dynamic and will be a key factor in raising the profile of the Festival in the lead up to and during the event. Silk Pearce has once again produced designs that have a broad aesthetic appeal and convey the sophistication and boldness of our international programme."

Silk Pearce's main visual concept is based on an image of one of the imposing office blocks in Norwich city centre. Rob Steer, Creative Director, Silk Pearce, said, "We flipped and repeated the image of the office block to create a pattern and then used a watercolour background to represent energy and movement. A white logo in the distressed typeface that has become synonymous with the festival brand is reversed out of the image for emphasis."

All branding has been carefully designed to reflect the event's ethos, reputation and history. It has already begun to generate excitement for the festival, which is known for being a world-class event and a platform for some extraordinary creative talent.

"Norfolk & Norwich Festival offers a mixture of music, theatre, literature and visual arts. But it's a festival that attracts all generations of people from all walks of life. We found a way to reflect the festival's diverse appeal with our choices of colour and design," said Steer.

Buildings and locations around the county, such as the underside of the Norwich Cathedral's roof, the distinctive striped gazebos of the Norwich Market, and the Victorian bandstands of Chapelfield Gardens, have also provided inspiration for Silk Pearce's designs for the 2016 event.
