  • (1888PressRelease) December 11, 2012 - The Federal Government announced on November 16 2012, that it will terminate the solar credits multiplier 6 months early, which means the popular solar subsidy will be reduced by 50%. There are two facets of this decisions as mentioned below:

    - Where a contract to purchase a system has been entered into prior to the 16 November 2012, the installation needs to occur before June 13, 2012.

    - For any contract signed on or after 16 November 2012, the installation needs to occur before 1 January 2013, in order to be eligible for the current subsidy level.

Say Solar understands that such untimely and unexpected announcement of the Government to phase out the solar subsidy with such short notice period is going to lead to the chaotic circumstances among the homes and other small business who want to install solar panels. And with the Christmas approaching many of the installers are preparing to take a break, resulting into the installation appointment slots becoming inadequate sooner.

This decision is condemned by the Sustainable Energy Association Australia (SEA) and Australian Solar Council. John Grimes, the CEO of Australian Solar Council slammed the decision stating, "The solar industry is already facing great uncertainty from the Review of the Renewable Energy Target".

Minister of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Greg Combet, said the decision has been made in order to lower the impact of the high uptake of solar PV on electricity costs for homes and businesses.

Looking at the sensitivity of the situation, Say Solar has decided to aid the maximum possible homeowners and business owners who wish to install the solar panels at the subsidized rates prevailing till January 1, 2013. Those interested to reap the benefits of subsidized rates for this limited period of time can call on 1300 889 358 to get in touch with the Say Solar team members. They are offering free, no obligation appointment and a chance to secure the current solar rebate before the cut off, you just need to call 1300 889 358.
