  • Evansville, IN-KY (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2015 - Lu Porter, Executive Director of Evansville African American Museum, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

    For the last four years of her career, Lu Porter has been heading the Evansville African American Museum, serving as their Executive Director. Responsible for the daily operations of the museum, Ms. Porter is enjoying the opportunity to serve her community in this role.

    "I have always maintained community relationships and loves to help build consensus and improve social and economic conditions," Ms. Porter said. "I hope to stay involved and be a part of the solutions to problems that face my community in any way I can."

    In her role, Ms. Porter oversees volunteers, staff, and resources, implements annual budgets, manages programs and activities, builds partnerships with other public and private entities, is responsible for fostering long-term development and execution of the Museum's strategic plan, policies, and goals, as well as the visionary leadership of the Museum, consensus building, management, operational effectiveness, and achieving targeted financial objectives.

    Ms. Porter's excellence in diversity, community relationships, compliance assessment, resource development, marketing, visibility, and strategic planning experience, and her ability to create a welcoming and responsive constituent experience all contribute to her success in running the Museum.

    Ms. Porter has been a member of the Ivy Tech Community Foundation for the past 20 years, a member of Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for the past 12 years, and is a life member of Echo Community Health and Evansville Habitat for Humanity Emeritus Board. Other affiliations include Leadership Evansville, the Black Women's Task Force, Women's Fund of Evansville, Deaconess Women's Hospital Advisory Board.
