  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) July 31, 2012 - No student should start the new school year with an empty school bag. To help fill those bags, CommonWealth One is asking members to again support this year's "School Supplies Drive" to benefit local students of Alexandria and Harrisonburg public schools.

"Our members always respond to others in need, especially when it comes to students," says Ashley Baldeon, CommonWealth One's marketing director. "Members can bring crayons, notebooks, pens, backpacks, and more - anything a student will need to help them succeed in school this coming year." Donations will be accepted at CommonWealth One Main Branch and Harrisonburg Regional Branch until Aug. 31. Cash donations are also accepted.

According Baldeon, it's not too early to donate school supplies: "By the time we collect, sort, and distribute the supplies, the bell will be ringing to start the new school year. By starting now, we can guarantee a successful program." She adds that while school supplies might not seem like items that would be needed, teachers often spend their own funds to buy supplies for their students. "So, our annual School Supplies Drive helps hundreds of students, and teachers as well," Baldeon says.
