  • (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - The winners of the RWC humorous essay contest will be announced soon and it will be time to applaud our colleagues. The entries brought smiles to our faces. They have been uniformly interesting, personal, moving, and honest. We hope that they entertained all our readers as well.

ResearchWritingCenter.com loves contests - they get our registered writers involved, they put our writers in contact with one another, and we enjoy communicating with so many of our community simultaneously. Sometimes, these contests encourage a particularly shy writer, even those not registered with us, to try their hand at sharing the fruits of their intellectual labors. This is a real bonus - we always receive some new writer applications after such opportunities to brave the world of writing with little risk.

This contest has been quite different from previous ones. We asked for something new this time. Rather than essays advising other freelance writers on how to do their job better, in this competition, we solicited laughter. Funny stories about freelancing, humorous incidents in the life of a freelancer; all these were possible essay topics.

We have been delighted with the results. An increasing number of writers have decided to throw their symbolic hat into the writing ring, and this just makes for more fun for everyone. We sponsored this special event to get folks involved and entertain everyone, and it is working well. We are certainly entertained!

The entries cover a gamut of styles and subjects. We have read doggerel poetry, stories of silly mistakes, bizarre assignments and odd interruptions, meditations on the challenges of freelancing, and self-deprecating personal assessments. They all illuminate RWC's varied global community of individual writers and fans.
The judging is underway on these lovingly written submissions. We will announce the $ 200 grand prize winner and other winners too.
