  • Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY (1888PressRelease) May 16, 2015 - Integra Optics CEO, Dave Prescott, and Logistics Supervisor, Albert Roman Jr., were awarded the Patriot Award this week by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense office that promotes cooperation and understanding between employers and National Guard and Reserve employees. The Patriot Award is granted to employers who make the utmost effort in supporting their National Guard and Reserve employees.

Prescott and Roman were nominated by Integra Optics' Electronics Technicians, Sierra Romleski, who currently serves in the Navy Reserve, and Joshua Parisi, an Army veteran. Romleski and Parisi say they nominated Prescott and Roman because their positive attitudes, passion for their jobs, and drive to move the company forward inspire Integra Optics' employees every day.

"Dave motivates his employees to constantly improve themselves and the company, which makes for an exceptional work environment and positive atmosphere," Romleski says.

Similarly, Parisi attests that Roman "shows great leadership and is always willing to go the extra mile to achieve his goals inside and outside the workplace. He always has a positive attitude and he loves to teach and mentor those he leads."

Prescott and Roman were also nominated because of their outstanding support of various charity programs, especially Toys for Tots. Integra Optics' headquarters serves as a collection site for donated toys every holiday season, and both men are very active in the company's participation in the program. Roman volunteers as the Toys for Tots Albany Campaign Coordinator.

Prescott and Roman say they're honored to receive the award. "It's very humbling," Roman says. "The most significant part of this for me is that our colleagues even thought to nominate us. That really means a lot."

"It's truly an honor to be nominated," Prescott adds. "But it's even more of an honor to be able to work with and support our veterans, and those who serve in the National Guard and Reserve."

The honorees accepted their award at ESGR's 'Briefing with the Boss' luncheon on May 14th at the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post in Albany, N.Y. The event brought together local business owners who hire veterans and Guard and Reserve members. As a Navy veteran himself, Prescott is a big supporter of hiring veterans, and currently has ten veterans employed at Integra Optics, including Roman, who is a retired Marine.
