  • (1888PressRelease) October 03, 2011 - The PTT Thailand Open which is one of Thailand's premier annual sporting events enters its ninth year as part of the ATP Tour and returns to Bangkok in 2011. This competition is held at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from Sept 24 to Oct 2.

Several best players in the world take part in this competition. British number one Andy Murray is the highest ranking player to compete in Bangkok with intention to improve his last appearance in 2006 which defeated by fellow Brit Tim Henman. Guillermo Garcia-Lopez who recorded a shock victory over Rafael Nadal last year also enters this event. Other big names include Robin Soderling, and Gilles Simon also participating in this competition.

BEC TERO who is the official organizer aims to increase the efficiency to track the persons who enter the restricted zone. This area is allowed for the authorized persons only. To achieve the stated objectives, BEC TERO is interested to employ RFID technology to automate the check-in process and Identify, being an expert in RFID, has been selected to implement this solution.

Identify selects UHF RFID for this event because UHF has the fast data transfer rate and can capture data at long reading distance (2-3 M). Two long range RFID readers are installed at the two entrances. These readers are connected to the center data base. Each player and the authorized person have his own RFID cards. They are allowed to enter the restricted zone only on the specified dates. When they approach the gate entrance at the reading distance, their name and status will be displayed on the station without human intervention. If any persons who are not allowed to enter this area on the specified date pass this restricted area, a system will have an automatic alarm.

Besides, Identify develops an on-line web-based report to show the status of each person. The organizer is able to know the time that individual person enters each gate in real time manner without waiting time for manual data entry. Additionally, he is able to know if any unauthorized persons approach the gate.

The solution can reduce human intervention resulting in the increase of the visibility on the number of persons who enter the restricted area.
