  • (1888PressRelease) July 25, 2012 - DynCorp International (DI) has been awarded a contract to provide aviation support to the U.S. Army by the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC). This task order, under the Contract Field Teams (CFT)contract, is to provide aviation support to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment-Airborne (SOAR-A) at Fort Campbell, Ky.

DynCorp International will continue its outstanding support to the 160th SOAR-A that DI has previously provided since the program's inception in the early 1980s until 2010. While the task order was briefly awarded to another firm, the U.S. Army returns the contract to DI.

"DI has meaningful and extensive experience with this contract and we are honored to once again support the 106th SOAR-A," said Jim Myles, group vice president, Aviation, DynCorp International. "We look forward to utilizing decades of experience with USASOAC and supporting their mission requirements."

More than 300 DI employees will be based at Fort Campbell to provide field and sustainment level maintenance on aircraft, aircraft subsystems and aviation support systems and logistics. DI currently supports two other contracts for the U.S. Army Directorate of Logistics at Fort Campbell; aircraft maintenance and support for the 101st Airborne Division and base operations services.

This task order, under the CFT indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity ("IDIQ") contract, has a base period of eight months with two, one-year options and, if all options are exercised, has a total value of $54.5 million.

The 160th SOAR-A, the Army's premier night fighting aviation force and only special operations aviation force are known as the "Night Stalkers". Night flight techniques and the development of night flight equipment have largely been pioneered by the regiment.
