  • (1888PressRelease) August 31, 2012 - For the first time, the meeting will be supported by the Science City Research Alliance, a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick, with representatives from both Universities in attendance. Based on the previous meetings in the series, more than 100 delegates are expected to attend, representing all types of company from OEM majors to independent toolmakers and subcontractors.

The main focus of the meeting will be on the latest technical developments that can help delegates to become more competitive and, therefore, win more business and become more profitable. The presentations will cover advances in design and manufacturing software, component development, workholding, advanced materials, and measurement and analysis.

The keynote speaker will be Mike Smith, Managing Director of Bromford Industries, who will describe how the company was developed from a manufacturer of precision components into a specialist supplier of engineering solutions aimed at delivering a competitive advantage to its customers.

"In addition to the formal presentations, we will be encouraging networking among the delegates so that they can gain even more from their day,” said Julia Moore from the GTMA. "A series of ‘Hot Desks’, where a variety of experts will be situated during the networking periods, will give companies opportunities to discuss their specific needs.”

"The day will give delegates an opportunity to learn more about the new and emerging technologies within manufacturing that could provide their companies with a competitive edge,” claimed Ms. Moore. "Knowledge gained from the event should be useful to managers so that sound strategic decisions concerning new technologies can be made, while more junior staff can benefit by having the chance to tap into the knowledge of the experts that will be presenting.”

There is no charge for attendance, but spaces are limited. To register for the event, please email Louise Campbell: admin ( @ ) gtma dot co.uk.
