  • (1888PressRelease) June 17, 2011 - The complete range of Delcam machining software comprises PowerMILL for high-speed and five-axis machining, FeatureCAM for feature-based programming, PartMaker for Swiss-type lathes and turn-mill equipment, and ArtCAM for engraving and routing, plus the Delcam for SolidWorks integrated CAM system for SolidWorks.

Together, these programs comprise the world’s most comprehensive range of CAM software from a single suppler. This broad coverage is one of the reasons why Delcam has been declared the world’s leading specialist supplier of NC software and services for the last ten years by US analysts CIMdata.

The Delcam development team is ranked as the largest in the CAM industry by CIMdata. The latest results of their work will be on show in Vietnam, with new versions of all the Delcam programs being demonstrated.

The 2011 version of PowerMILL makes the programming of safe toolpaths easier than ever thanks to new stock-model-engagement options that protect both the cutting tool and the machine from excessive loading. Other enhancements include new editing capabilities to simplify the machining of duplicate items; more versatile control of feed-rates for leads and links; and extra functionality for sketching, plus the completion of the move to the new clearer forms for the complete range of strategies.

The 2011 version of FeatureCAM incorporates support for 64-bit computers, improved data exchange from a wider range of design software, the ability to use stock models and new strategies across the complete program, from turning to five-axis machining. The program also features a more modern interface to make programming easier than ever. All these developments will ensure that FeatureCAM retains the leadership in programming speed and ease of use it has held since its launch in 1995, when it was the world’s first feature-based programming system.

Major highlights of PartMaker 2011 include more powerful milling functionality, a more flexible tooling library, improved programming and simulation of bar-fed mills, more detailed mid-process documentation and a host of additional productivity enhancements. This range of new functionality further demonstrates the accelerated pace of development PartMaker has undergone since its acquisition by Delcam five years ago.

For 2011, the entry-level version of ArtCAM has been reduced in price to US$149. ArtCAM Express is believed to be the easiest to learn and the fastest to use engraving and routing software currently available. It offers 2D drawing, and 2D and standard 3D machining functions, and so provides an ideal introduction to computer-based manufacturing for companies in the engraving, woodworking and signmaking industries.

The 2011 version of Delcam for SolidWorks includes comprehensive options for the programming of turning and mill-turn equipment, alongside the company’s industry-leading technology for drilling and two- through five-axis milling. This expanded range of strategies will allow users to program everything from lathes up to mill-turn equipment, more quickly, more reliably and more easily than with other integrated CAM systems.
