  • Lima, OH (1888PressRelease) May 16, 2013 - Kelly Kathleen Clifford, Intervention Specialist at Apollo Career Center, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Kelly Kathleen Clifford's commitment to excellence in Special Education.

Kelly Kathleen Clifford, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Brescia College and a Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton, is a certified elementary education, early education of the handicapped, and special education K-12 teacher and is also certified in behavior disorders. She began her career as a preschool interventionist.

After nineteen years with her previous school system, Ms. Clifford decided to change career directions and obtained a position as a high school intervention specialist at Apollo Career Center vocational school. Teaching English and Mathematics to junior and senior vocational students, the kids work in a lab half the day and take academic courses the other half. She also writes IEP goals and objectives and carries them out within the classroom, does lesson plans, and handles all other aspects of everyday teaching duties.

"Everything I learned while earning my master's degree in school counseling is used on a daily basis now with my special needs students," Ms. Clifford said. "It was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had."

Noting that her mother was also a teacher, Ms. Clifford said that she was one of the most patient people to ever enter her life.

With hopes of teaching college students majoring in education in the future, Ms. Clifford has thirty-two years experience in the classroom, all of which were in special education. It has given her a lot of insight into children with special needs and she would really love to pay it forward to future generations of teachers.

Now working on her first children's book, Ms. Clifford is a member of the National Education Association and Ohio Educational Association. She has served on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters board for several years, has written thirteen consecutive grants for Marimor School to obtain an Artist-in-Residence, and has also been named Teacher of the Year numerous times.
