Evans, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, San Francisco State University, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Gail G. Evans' commitment to excellence in Higher Education.

Gail G. Evans, who holds a BS in Women's Physical Education from San José State University, followed by a Master's and PhD, also in Women's Physical Education, both from Washington State University, began her career in higher education in the fall of 1974 as the varsity gymnastics coach and instructor at State University of New York, College of Brockport.

After earning her PhD, Dr. Evans went on to teach at San José State University as a professor of kinesiology, where she would remain for twenty-five years. During that time, she also served as associate dean of undergraduate studies and director of general education for seven years, from 2001-2008.

Now overseeing all undergraduate curriculum with a special emphasis on general education as dean of undergraduate studies at San Francisco State University, Dr. Evans also works extensively with enrollment services, student affairs, and all college deans on issues ranging from curriculum to managing enrollments.

"In my opinion, good administrators need to be both people persons and also extremely well organized, and I believe I have both of these qualities. At this point," Dr. Evans said, "I believe my greatest strengths are curricular revisions, general education, assessment, integrative learning, first year experience, and writing across the curriculum."

Planning to retire within the next year, Dr. Evans will still be consulting at colleges and universities. The current member of Association of American Colleges of Universities and past president of CAHPERD and the Western Society for Physical Education of College Women is also the recipient of numerous awards, including a Verne Landreth Award from the California Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, a Distinguished Alumna Award from the Kinesiology Department at San José State University, and an Honor Award from CAHPERD.
