  • Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) April 05, 2011 - Concordia University Texas - Houston Center will present a lecture on the importance of higher education at Sagemont Church in South Houston on Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m.

    Harv Hartman, managing partner of the Houston-based Summit Management Group, and Don Devens, president of Devens Financial Services, are dynamic leaders in the fields of human resources and business finance. They will share experiences and expert advice about the added value of education to individuals' organizations and professional careers.

    "We recognize there is so much turbulence in the economy and lack of stability for employment," said Christopher Leslie, dean of the Houston Center. "As a university dean, I want to provide a sense of hope and a foundation of positive encouragement for Houston residents."

    CTX - Houston Center, a member of the Greater Houston Partnership, aims to use the lecture as a springboard to engage people in the region with experts in various disciplines, and empower individuals to meet their fullest potential.
    "The Houston Center is offering this lecture event to the community for the purpose of calming fears, easing uncertainty and instilling hope for all of us who are frustrated and wondering what will happen next," Leslie explained.

    Harv Hartman has over 33 years of experience at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), including ten years as the Director of Human Resources at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Hartman has served on the Clear Creek Education Foundation and the Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education. He currently chairs a committee for the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.

    Don Devens is a registered financial consultant and life and health insurance representative. He has experience as an associate general agent and compliance manager. In addition to his financial experience, Devens has worked as a hospital administrator and licensed counselor.
