  • (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2011 - Las Vegas, NV - The United Network Equipment Dealer Association (UNEDA), an alliance of more than 300 pre-owned network equipment dealers worldwide, has announced the winner of second annual Rothschild Award.

The Award was presented to Gillian Canty-Ross of Subspace Communications (Atlanta, GA) during UNEDA's annual conference on May 14, 2011. Canty-Ross is a native of Ossining, NY and has been trading in the secondary market for 16 years. She was a founding Director of UNEDA and has been a member of the UNEDA Dispute Resolution Committee since UNEDA's inception as well as the UNEDA Membership Committee.

Upon winning the award, Canty-Ross said, "I can think of no greater honor than receiving the Rothschild award. Bob Rothschild was such an ethical presence in our industry. I often find myself asking, "Well, what would Bob do here?" And he was a good friend. Being told that I am following in his footsteps is one of the greatest compliments I could ever get."

The winner of the Award also picks the annual charity for UNEDA. Last year's winner, David Manning of Atlantix Global Systems (Atlanta, GA) added, ""As the first winner of the Rothschild Award, It was an honor presenting the award to Gillian Canty-Ross for all she's done for the organization." Manning continued, "My family and I would like to thank UNEDA for the generous gift honoring my daughters to the Children's Hospital Foundation. Without the staff at Children's, and the thoughts and prayers of many long-time friends within UNEDA, our girls would not be with us today."

UNEDA's president John Stafford of Vology Systems (Tampa, FL) added, "Since inception, the annual Bob Rothschild Award has been the zenith of everything that UNEDA stands for. Without exception, Gillian Canty-Ross is the epitome of all things Bob believed in: honor, integrity, ethics, and dedication to good business. I, along with the rest of the UNEDA Board, know that Bob would have been ecstatic with Gilli winning the second annual award."

The award was created in honor of Robert N. Rothschild of Elarasys who passed away suddenly while attending the UNEDA European conference in Dublin, Ireland on September 14, 2009. Rothschild was a 21-year industry veteran and was instrumental in forming the organization and implementing the original draft of Code of Ethics. At the time of his untimely passing, Rothschild was serving as the Vice President of UNEDA as well as the Chairman of the Dispute Resolution Committee.

The winner was elected after a nomination process by the general membership. Of that group, three people were selected by the UNEDA Board of Directors for final voting by the general membership. The award will be presented during each annual general UNEDA conference that will take place in the United States.
