  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, OH (1888PressRelease) January 08, 2011 - Judith K. Gagnon, Pharmacist for CVS Pharmacy has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Gagnon, who earned her degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1981, began working in pharmacy as a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Philadelphia Naval Hospital during college.

After being selected and commissioned by the US Public Health Service, Gagnon spent her summer months of her third and fourth year of college working in migrant worker clinics on St. John's Island in South Carolina. Upon graduation she accepted a commission from the US Air Force and served as chief pharmacy officer at Grissom AFB in Indiana. It was there that she learned leadership, responsibility, professionalism, and most importantly, dedication to duty and service. Upon separation from the active duty Air Force, she worked as Chief Hospital Pharmacist, Bloss Memorial Hospital in Atwater, California and continued her military career as a reserve officer. She joined her husband in Germany and continued serving in the Air Force Reserves at Ramstein AFB, Germany while also working as a pharmacist at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Germany until retiring from the Air Force and returning to the USA.

As a pharmacist, Gagnon is responsible for accurately filling patients' prescriptions, monitoring for adverse reactions and potentially harmful interactions, educating patients and caregivers about their medications, health conditions, and practical ways to manage reactions, interacting with physicians to find the most cost effective medications for patients' insurance providers, supervising and training support staff, and general business management duties. Working as a night staff pharmacist, she also takes on additional duties and challenges, saying, "Very few people realize how many roles a pharmacist may fulfill, whether it is a pharmacist, social worker, friend, grief counselor, and friendly voice to a distraught person, the elderly, or a lonely patient."

Hoping to continue making a difference in the lives of as many patients as possible, whether it is physically, mentally, or spiritually, Gagnon plans to continue working for as long as she is capable. She has been a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Rho Chi National Honor Society for Pharmacy since 1979, and has received numerous military awards over the years. In her free time, Judith enjoys boating, mountain biking, hunting, and dancing.
