Schultz, Health and Safety Manager for Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Mining, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Jill A. Schultz's commitment to excellence in the Mining industry.

    Schultz, who holds a BS in Forestry and Environmental Engineering, followed by an MS in Forestry, both from Michigan Technological University, began working in her industry in 1986 as an assistant scientist and manager for the Michigan Technological University School of Forestry Soils Laboratory.

    Currently, Schultz manages the health, safety, and security programs at one of Freeport-McMoRan's largest surface copper mines and at Climax Technology Center. As an acting member of the leadership team, she makes recommendations that will lead the company to exceed industry health and safety standards. These standards include developing and implementing a certified OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management System, while ensuring that the company is in compliance with MSHA, OSHA, Homeland Security and other state and federal regulations. "I come from a family with strong work ethic and a love for nature. I work with talented employees and team members," Schultz said. "I have a passion for the type of work that I do."

    Schultz plans to continue in her position by being a positive influence within her company. In the future, though, she hopes to lead a company with her talents by successfully exceeding EH&S standards and maintain a director or vice-president role.

    Elected to the New Mexico Mining Safety Board by the governor of New Mexico, Shultz is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the National Registry of Environmental Professionals. She has successfully installed Michigan's first underground freshwater cap as a global Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for Baker Oil Tools has led HS&E programs to reduce employee incidents by some forty percent. She is a registered environmental manager, certified indoor air quality manager, certified infrastructure preparedness specialist, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems auditor. In her free time, Jill enjoys gardening, camping, hiking, home remodeling, and trap shooting.
