  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) January 28, 2011 - Jacqui DeLorenzo, Academic Counselor for North Shore Community College, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Jacqui DeLorenzo's commitment to excellence in Higher Education and Counseling.

    DeLorenzo, who holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Financial Aide Counseling and Career Counseling from the University of Massachusetts, followed by a Master's Degree in Psychology from Salem State University, has been working in her field since 1973.

    Having spent thirty-eight years with the college, DeLorenzo began working in the financial aide department before transferring to admissions, advancing to the placement office on to a program for disadvantaged students called TRiO. Her current role as academic counselor in the student support center has been most rewarding, assisting traditional and non-traditional students, including students with college adjustment issues, find the hope they have been seeking in fulfilling their dreams.

    Responsible for assisting her students in their career direction, DeLorenzo helps students with programs of study, college adjustment issues, course selection, orientations, registration of classes, and referrals to mental health agencies. She also evaluates transcripts from other colleges for students transferring in and helps with graduation requirements. "I knew for a long time that I wanted to make a difference in other's lives," she said. "My hope is to continue working with others in helping them achieve their goals by believing in themselves."

    A licensed mental health counselor through the state of Massachusetts, DeLorenzo recently published her first book, A Thread of Hope: A Woman's Spiritual Journey of Faith from Trauma to Triumph, where she shares a personal journey of how, in spite of adversities, one can change their life from being a victim to a conqueror. DeLorenzo is a member of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association and is on the graduation committee and foundation scholarship committee at her college. She received a performance recognition award from the state in 2005, and has been serving as vice-president of the Northeast Counselor Association for postsecondary education board of directors for a number of years. She is also a certified notary public. In her free time, Jacqui enjoys exercising, volunteering and traveling.
