  • Montgomery, AL (1888PressRelease) December 24, 2011 - Deborah Morrison, Chief of Safety Management Service for Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Deborah Morrison's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.

Morrison, a certified healthcare safety professional and certified fire safety manager, began working in her field in 1980 as a bioenvironmental engineer for six years in the US Air Force Base.

To date, Morrison's primary responsibilities include daily oversight of an industrial hygienist, a program assistant, emergency management coordinator, two safety specialists, plus a fire department consisting of a fire chief, which is staffed with fifteen full-time fire fighters. She is responsible for the Environment of Care Program located at the VA Hospitals in Tuskegee and Montgomery, a Vet Clinic in Montgomery, two outpatient clinics in Columbus, Georgia, two clinics in Dothan, Alabama and one clinic in Fort Rucker, Alabama. She ensures all locations pass The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General, Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and Annual Work Place Evaluation inspections, unannounced Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency or the state of Alabama Department Environmental Management on the required annual or tertiary intervals.

"For the staff, veterans and visitors that come to our healthcare system facilities," Morrison said, "I care about all of them and their safety."

Morrison noted that she works a minimum of fifteen hour days each day, which regularly include 12am to 8am to ensure all facilities are safe to work in and quality healthcare is performed in an atmosphere where staff, patients and their families feel safe. This allows the medical faculty to focus on patient care as their top priority.

With plans to retire in November of 2012, Morrison intends to do private consulting work and private training to assist individuals in obtaining the proper certification(s) in their specialty. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and the Princeton Global Network. She was named the 2011 Woman of the Year through the National Association of Professional Women, received an Honor Award through the Princeton Global Network and was also named to the President's Who's Who. When Deborah isn't busy working, she enjoys cross-stitch, listening to music and traveling.
