  • Richmond-Petersburg, VA (1888PressRelease) January 13, 2011 - David A. Rich, Jr., Senior Manager of VerizonBusiness, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes David A. Rich, Jr.'s commitment to excellence in Telecommunications.

Rich, who holds an AS in electronic engineering from Capitol Technology, followed by a BS in Technology from Excelsior College and an MBA from Keller Graduate School, has been working in his field for more than twenty years, beginning as a technical service representative for a Fortune 500 company's network operations center in Atlanta, Georgia.

After excelling in his field, Rich was asked to move to Washington, DC to work in the engineering department where he would become senior national support engineer for operational support systems around the nation. From there, he was promoted into senior management in the corporate engineering organization.

As senior manager, Rich is head of international tenders, responsible for business development, project management and strategic planning. It is his job to provide executive level technical evaluations of new projects, provide key input for business case development, and recommend the allocation of resources for review and implementation. "Having been around technology my entire career, in addition to being required to make many new technical initiatives work in the marketplace," Rich explained, "has given me keen insights into what it takes to bring highly sophisticated telecom projects to fruition."

Initially attracted to telecommunications because he enjoyed troubleshooting difficult technical problems and resolving them, Rich's current goal focus is on becoming chief technology officer for a fortune 500 company, or perhaps chief executive officer of his own enterprise. "I want to apply my talents, experience, education and natural leadership abilities toward higher levels of responsibility," he said.

Rich has an electronic technician certificate from DeVry Institute and a certificate as a public speaker through Toastmasters International's competent public speaker curriculum. He is a member of the World Martial Arts Congress, where he is also a certified black belt. He's a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, National Black MBA Association and IEEE, and became president of the board of directors for a multi-million dollar 290 unit high rise building in Northern Virginia. He is the author of a book, ZuTrue, published in 1999, and has won numerous awards during his career, including five for significant contributions to network development, application development and technical support achievements. Rich has directed the technical response to a $500 million network implementation bid and has also won contracts in emerging market areas that were initially considered unlikely to succeed. In his free time, David enjoys weightlifting, martial arts and playing the guitar.
