It's clear that cloud computing, in all its forms is transforming the computing landscape. While there's been a lot of debate about cloud computing and where it's headed. Axceleon recognizes the importance in teaching the fundamentals of the cloud, especially as it relates to running high performance computing (HPC) workloads in the cloud.

A great example of CloudFuzion being used in cloud computing relates to an Axceleon customer who was modelling 10,000 years of cyclone winds, waves and water levels across northwest Australia with very demanding schedules. The project entailed doing 1500 detailed simulations which took a total of 40,000 hours to run. The customer was able to take advantage of an external Cloud managed by CloudFuzion which came on-line with almost immediate access to 480 cores. This allowed a project that would take 2.3 years on a dual core laptop to be completed in 83 hours with the use of the cloud, so from 2.3 years to 3.4 days. This is the power of cloud computing, the client was able to terminate the mini-cloud when complete.
