  • (1888PressRelease) March 25, 2021 - Washington, DC - Washington D.C.’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) once again targets a SMALL, BLACK-OWNED business in Shaw - directly across from the historic Howard Theatre.

After a targeted investigation on the only BLACK-OWNED business in the area, Kiss Restaurant and Tavern marks the first D.C. business to lose its liquor license over COVID-19 restriction violations, according to an ABRA spokesperson.

Investigators are caught on video, INTOXICATIED, stating, "I can shut you down!" "Who will the Board believe, me or YOU?"

This blatant disrespect and disregard for a small business owner's ability to operate is willful and we must let Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration know that this will not be tolerated. Evidence claiming another undercover investigator was served a beverage after-hours is only time-stamped at closing, not when the investigator received the beverage.

Investigators for ABRA did not provide written or verbal warning, instead revoked the license without proper due process.

These trumped are charges must be OVERTURNED. Kiss Tavern is a staunch supporter of the community, through art, activism, and providing employment to local DC residents.

If you are disturbed by ABRA's targeted attack please take a moment to sign!
