The Whitestone Group Adds 137 Veterans to Payroll
The Whitestone Group Increases their number of employees having military service by more than 50% in recent months.
- (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2012 - Columbus, OH - The Whitestone Group, Inc., headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announced today that they have increased their number of employees having military service by more than 50% in recent months.
Whitestone, an asset protection and Protective Security Officer Company, is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with 8(a) Certification. The company has made its mark as one of the nation's premier providers of security services to the federal government.
Thanks in large part to a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Whitestone has added many new workers to their payroll, of which 137 are military service veterans. John Clark, Whitestone's President and CEO, a service disabled veteran himself, understands the military culture and the benefits of the military experience. "The FAA contract helped us increase our overall group of Veteran employees to 271," Clark said.
A recent article cited unemployment among Veterans is trending two percent above the national average. Another article by the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, reported that the latest Department of Labor unemployment report shows that in October 2011, the average unemployment rate among all veterans was 7.7% and 12.1% for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. "More often than not, Veterans already have the necessary training, background and experience required of Protective Security Officers and other classifications of employees for most of our federal contracts," Clark stated.
Whitestone, an equal opportunity employer, finds that Veterans bring many different skill sets and experiences to the table such as leadership, discipline, teamwork, advanced knowledge, supervisory skills and know how to multi-task. "I've always found that Veterans make great employees because of their training and call-to-duty spirit, Clark added. We find that our recruitment and retention efforts are much more successful with this talented group people."
Throughout the entire corporate structure, Whitestone is a veteran friendly company that values the skills and service of our men and women in uniform. "We have seen the benefits at all levels of the company and will continue to tap into this pool of talented individuals," Clark concluded.
