  • (1888PressRelease) September 17, 2013 - AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Wolftech Broadcast Solutions AS over the weekend demoed their Wolftech FieldAgent software suite to broadcasters during the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC2013).

Wolftech FieldAgent is a software suite specifically designed for broadcasters who need to get content delivered from field to on-air as quickly, reliably and cost-effectively as possible.

"Getting stories from the field has long been a slow and cumbersome ordeal for broadcasters. We set out to change that." Wolftech CEO Robert Strand said.

Among the features shown off at the Vizrt stand in hall 7, was the seamless integration with Viz Media Engine from Vizrt (OTCMKTS:VZRTF). Using Wolftech FieldAgent, field reporters are able to file stories, with extensive metadata directly into VME or a variety of other MAMs.

Not only that, the user can also search and download - through a secure, encrypted gateway - content from the MAM, allowing native access to the entirety of their home archive from anywhere.

The stories are automatically transcoded for all the different endpoints a broadcaster might have, be they HD/SD, OTT, 4K, Web or social media uploads, then compressed based on time-to-air, ensuring that the story makes it on the evening news, if that's what it's planned for.

"We're also really excited about our SuperProxy technology," Strand said, explaining "SuperProxy is a low-res proxy media that's sent ahead of the actual story, letting your editors and translators start reviewing the media, even as the proper file is on it's way in."

All communication with the home server is AES-256 encrypted end-to-end, and using SHA-2 hash technology the system is able to confirm that the video hasn't been intercepted or corrupted along the way.

"We wanted to automate as much as possible of the transfer and metadata formatting, so we could allow the reporter to focus on reporting, and the editor to plan more effectively," said Strand.

One of the more exciting planning features, are the SMS alerts, which automatically alerts the reporter and editor of transfer status, and even let's the reporter know when their story goes on-air.

With Wolftech MapAgent, desk managers are able to track and leverage resources visually, by plotting both human and technical resources on a big-screen map in near real-time.

"Knowing where your resources are, will not only save you a lot of production costs, but also ensure that you're first on the scene when news breaks," Strand concluded.

Wolftech Broadcast Solutions AS will be showing at IBC2013 until the convention ends on Tuesday, September 17th.
