Walters Homes Earns Green Builder of the Year Award

Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) March 03, 2011 - Walters Homes, the homebuilding division of Walters Group, was chosen as the first "Green Builder of the Year" by Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey (SBACNJ). Ed Walters, Jr., founder and partner, accepted the honor along with 9 other FAME awards, or Fabulous Achievement in Marketing Excellence during the eighth annual gala dinner. The ceremony was attended by approximately 200 members and associates of the Jersey Shore building industry.

Walters garnered the prestigious "Green Builder of the Year" award for the Stafford Park redevelopment, a mixed-use LEED-certified brownfield project, chosen for its recyclable and sustainable features. "Walters is truly an outstanding green developer," said Marge Karahuta, chair of the sales and marketing and public relations committee for SBACNJ. "We had a record number of entries this year, and Stafford Park far surpassed any other projects being considered." Located within the Regional Growth area of the Pinelands, every detail of Stafford Park was designed with energy conservation in mind.

Whispering Hills, an eco-friendly townhouse developed by Walters, won "Best Green Building" for its design and construction elements including exterior design and materials, landscaping, building components, and interior floor plan. The community is situated on 85 wooded acres in Barnegat, offering townhomes registered with a certification goal of LEED® Silver.

In the category of Best Builder Member Special Promotional, Walters won for its
"Whopping Realtor Rewards" at Whispering Hills and Ocean Acres at Barnegat. The promotion targeted realtors, offering a bonus commission.

Marketing Director Pamela Schuster gained top honors as "Best Marketing Director of the Year" as a result of her sales and marketing success at Ocean Acres at Barnegat and Whispering Hills. Rick Saparito was also awarded "Salesperson of the Year" for his high sales numbers and buyer relations at Whispering Hills. "It's a great honor for our sales team to be recognized by the local trade association for our achievements," said Schuster.

Individual Achievement Awards were presented to three Walters Homes employees. For excellence in sales, in the Million Dollar Club category, Laurie McManus won for New Home Sales at the Platinum Level with over $8 million in sales, and Rick Saparito won with over $6 million in sales. Danielle Edreff won for Options/Upgrade Sales Achievement with $1.1 million in options sales. The Million Dollar Club Awards are presented to salespeople who execute sales of at least $1 million and the Options/Upgrade Sales awards are presented to salespeople who sell options and upgrades over $100,000. Saparito and McManus were also awarded the Circle of Honor for their sales achievements.

Walters is currently developing Ocean Acres at Barnegat, a single-family luxury residential community, and Whispering Hills, a multi-family development consisting of townhouses, single-family homes, and rental apartments. Ongoing construction is underway at Stafford Park.
