  • (1888PressRelease) December 16, 2011 - VintageFuel.com, a website dedicated to the sport of nostalgia drag racing, launched their e-edition in December 2007 followed by selling the site and brand to VF Motorsports, LLC in January 2010. With the state of the US economy and continually changing format and structure of vintage drag racing events VF Motorsports chose to focus resources in marketing projects and partnerships within and out of the motorsports industry. VintageFuel.com remained a source of information and continued to stay active in the sport but hadn't played a role as a leader in communications and entertainment.

Christy Thom, "The experience partnering with professional race teams and businesses in and out of the motorsports industry has been invaluable. The keys to successfully growing any business are truly the same regardless of your industry. Running a motorsports operation is a business whether the participants realize it or not. When have a track operator, spectators, concessions, performers (being racers) and a reward for performance that is the utter definition of a functioning business."

"We have connected with spectacular teams and organizations that represent the finest in motorsports and we will continue to work with them on all of the programs already in motion. As we expand the VintageFuel.com business model our current partners will continue to play an integral role. Our ultimate vision is to radically change the entertainment and lifestyle relationship associated with vintage drag racing. Nostalgia drag racing is a growing entity and the opportunity to capitalize is now."

The Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and social media boom have made connecting with consumers and new sports fans a tangible reality for a seemingly grassroots sport. Nostalgia drag racing first came to life with a GoodGuys Rod and Custom vintage drag race held in April 1989 followed by the resurrection of the famed March Meet in 1994. Good Guys successfully operated, promoted and hosted 5 to 6 vintage drags per year until 2006. Currently, there are more than 14 clubs, organizations and sanctioning bodies across the United States contesting vintage style drag racing events starting in March and going through to November.

The team charged with creating, implementing and fulfilling the VintageFuel.com vision includes VF Motorsports officers Kevin Thom and Jerry Beach along with the original Vintage Fuel Editor Christy Thom. The newest addition to the company is young entrepreneur and Funny Car driver Alex Barrett of the Rocketeer Funny Car.
Alex Barrett, "I'm thankful to VF Motorsports for giving me a chance to work in motorsports marketing and drag racing full-time. With this partnership, I know that it will only bring success for VF clients, partners, VintageFuel.com and me."

"Vintage Fuel has always led the industry with innovative ideas that will continue to better the sport of drag racing and I'm honored to help bring those to fruition. Kevin and Christy Thom have a great reputation in the drag racing community and I'm looking forward to working with them on a professional level to achieve my ultimate dream of being a professional Funny Car driver."
