  • Kalamazoo-Portage, MI (1888PressRelease) October 05, 2010 - Due to the overwhelming response to our Halloween Spooktacular at South Haven Family Campground a third weekend has been added. Although Halloween and camping may seem like an odd mix for some, the owners of South Haven Family Campground are inviting families to get out in the outdoors and enjoy some good, clean, family fun. The campground is offering 3 weekends of Halloween Fun that will fit into anyone's schedule.

The Halloween Spooktacular I , II, & III are offered on October 8-10th, October 15-17th and October 22-24th. These weekends will be full of chilling activities that start on Friday night with a Haunted campfire, where Spooking stories will be told. More activities going on during the weekend include crafts, mummy wrap race, Magic pumpkin patch, face painting, trick-or-treating, and an outdoor movie. Campers are encouraged to compete in the many contests that will be taking place during the weekend: scarecrow stuffing/decorating, pumpkin carving, site judging, and costume contests. Trophies, prizes, and FREE camping will be given out. The main attraction for our Halloween Spooktacular Weekends will be the "Haunted House". During these 3 weekends the big red barn on the campground property will be turned into a frightfully fun haunted house.

Halloween and camping is great for the whole family - adults and older kids love to decorate their site and see the creativity of other campsites. Little ones love the fun atmosphere and being able to trick or treat in such a large area. It is really fun and "inexpensive" way to spend quality family time. "We have families that have come every year and register early to get the site that they want", states owner Susan Novotny. Jen from Portage states, "This campground goes above and beyond. The family activities are great and the haunted house (again no charge) was awesome".

Join the fun as we celebrate our third end to our summer at South Haven Family Campground. All activities are FREE to guests. Make your reservations early, as space is limited. Reservations for a camp site range from $27 to $40 a night for family of 4 or $74-104 for a cabin. New this year, is our Camping Cottage that offers more amenities then a hotel room.
