  • St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) April 07, 2016 - In an effort to create a more inclusive community, eight area nonprofits have joined forces for the second annual Hollywood Dash which will take place on July 23, 2016 at the Streets of St. Charles. The morning celebration includes a one-mile race followed by entertainment and a family movie. People from all walks of life and all ability levels are encouraged to attend.

"For one day, together we get to shine a spotlight on the diversity in our community," says Christine Rutherford of Community Living, Inc., one of the hosting organizations. "That diversity includes people with intellectual disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome. Our event is one day, one mile and one mission - to create a more inclusive community for all abilities."

In addition to Community Living, Inc., the other hosting organizations include: Caring Solutions, The Center for Autism Education, Pathways to Independence, Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis, St. Louis Life, ShowMe Aquatics & Fitness and TREEHouse of Greater St. Louis.

The Hollywood Dash will kick off with a one-mile dash for people of all ability levels - from competitive runners to walkers and rollers. St. Louis Public Radio's Mid-Day Host, Greg Munteanu, will be on hand as the Hollywood Dash announcer.

Registration for the dash begins at 8:30am and the race will begin at 9:30am. Following the race, stop by the restaurants and bars at the Streets of St. Charles to enjoy a cocktail, appetizer or meal before enjoying a family friendly movie at the AMC Theatre. There will also be family friendly activities including the Knights of Columbus clowns, photo station and an interactive bubble bus. More details about the specifics for the event will be released later this spring.
