  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) January 08, 2011 - Mentoring a child can be the New Year's resolution you will want to keep. "Spending time with someone who needs you might be easier then you think. Performing a selfless act is one of the most rewarding and fullfilling things that a person can do to help humanity. A mentor is a guide, somewhere between a parent and a friend, who helps a child navigate through uncertain terrain. Mentoring takes time, effort and energy, but you can make a profound difference in the life of a child.

There are some common misconceptions about mentoring. Writer/Aurthor Winston Churchill once stated "We make a living by what we get, we make a life

by what we give." The truth is mentoring a teen takes just a few hours, a couple of times a month. It's the quality of time, not the quantity that counts." Another mispeception is that a mentor has to have a big job or standing in the community. Many youth don't even care about titles, just the caring and commitment. Studies show that most volunteer mentors are everyday people from all walks of life.

Mentoring can make a big difference in the life of an at risk youth. Thats why the ladies of the P.I.N.K. Foundation enjoy spending time just hanging out with the young women who participate in their mentorship program. The P.I.N.K. Foundation makes it easy to keep a New Year's resolution to mentor a child. Our volunteers develop friendships with our participants whether it's giving advice or simply just hanging out - mentors bring magic into the life of a child.

The P.I.N.K. Foundation believes that it is the responsibility of all Americans to participate in child sexual abuse prevention in their communities. There are things that you can do to help children who are in danger. "Child sex trafficking is a serious societal issue and one that all of us needs to address. We can do that by supporting agencies that work on behalf of children, and by making sure that we know the signs of abuse and what to do about it. Help make life easier for someone at risk: report suspected child sexual abuse and support those organizations in your community that put children first. The prevention of child endangerment and child sex trafficking is everyone's job. With your help you can make this world a better place.
