  • (1888PressRelease) January 21, 2011 - On January 17, 2011, a new Habitat for Humanity ReStore opened its doors in Bayboro, NC. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that works to eliminate poverty and homelessness by helping people to rebuild communities by building houses. Stonhard, the world leader in manufacturing and installing seamless floor systems, has made sure that this ReStore will never again have to worry about clean, wearable, safe floors.

After moving the ReStore to Bayboro from a smaller facility in Alliance, Habitat for Humanity officials were concerned about the quality of the building's floor. The cracked, pitted and uneven concrete floor posed a significant threat to the success of the relocation. A volunteer with Pamlico County Habitat for Humanity called on Stonhard's Mid-Atlantic General Manager, Jim Mahon, to ask for some advice on their flooring situation. Jim, along with the Stonhard team, offered suggestions to help and were also able to provide the materials for the new floor at no cost to Habitat for Humanity. In early January, working closely with Stonhard's local Territory Manager, Glenn Murrell, and area installation crews, Stonhard installed 1,000 square feet of floor, a Stonclad GS system, in the new Bayboro ReStore's showroom. Stonclad GS is a seamless, high-performing epoxy mortar system that resists wear, impact, abrasion and chemicals, while remaining easy to clean.

"Stonhard truly understood the overwhelming issues we were faced with and quickly gave us the reassurance we needed to ease any doubts we had that the floor was beyond repair," said Rosemary Warner, Project Manager for the Habitat ReStore relocation. "Not only did the new epoxy floor meet our needs, but it has truly exceeded our expectations," she added.

Habitat for Humanity's ReStore retail outlets sell reusable and surplus building materials, gently used furniture, home accessories and appliances to the public. Proceeds from the sale of these items help local Habitat for Humanity affiliates fund the construction of Habitat homes within their communities. Since its opening, the Pamlico ReStore has received many compliments on their new showroom, specifically the floors. "The floor has given our showroom a very professional look," said Flo Daniels, ReStore Co-Manager. "We are exceptionally pleased with the floor, the workmanship and all Stonhard representatives involved with the project," she added.

Stonhard is the unprecedented leader in seamless floor, wall and lining systems and has been providing solutions, worldwide, for more than 89 years. For more information, visit www.stonhard.com or call 800.257.7953.
