  • Salt Lake City-Ogden, UT (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2010 - Stevens-Henager College, West Haven/ Ogden has announced its decision to increase the number of seats available for admission into its Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. The move followed an increase in demand for the program by prospective students. The college has raised the number of available seats and also decided to increase the frequency of starting new classes. New classes for this program will now begin every month.

The 26-month Associate's Degree in Nursing program is available at the Ogden-West Haven campus of Stevens-Henager College and is accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), which is a nationally recognized specialized accrediting agency responsible for granting accreditation to nursing education programs.

As of 2006, 617 Associate's in Nursing programs had received accreditation from the organization (www.nlnac.org/About%20NLNAC/whatsnew.htm) NLNAC has a number of strict standards and criteria ranging from faculty and staff to curriculum and resources based on which it grants accreditation to ADN programs across the country.

The ADN program is an ideal platform for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to build on their existing expertise. The program includes courses on gerontological nursing, pediatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, and critical care nursing - four areas of healthcare that are currently in demand throughout the country.

The degree also prepares graduates for the National Council of Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Graduates need to pass this exam in order to obtain a license to practice as an RN in all the U.S. states and territories.

Candidates interested in this program must have a high school diploma or an equivalent GED certificate. They also have to go through a campus interview and complete an enrollment agreement before starting classes, which now begin every month for this program.
