Stevens-Henager College Honors Local Heroes

  • Boise City, ID (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2011 - Stevens-Henager College (http://www.stevenshenager.edu/programs) announced today an event to honor local heroes. The event will honor those who have participated in the Stevens-Henager College American Red Cross donation drive, local service personnel, and active-duty military and veterans, as well as a special group of heroes nominated individually by Stevens-Henager students. The event will also feature a video booth where attendees can record special messages for their individual heroes.

    Stevens-Henager College began raising money for the American Red Cross in early May. Hero Appreciation Day will honor those who have already donated, as well as fuel the momentum to reach the school's goal of raising $1000 by August. Additionally, Stevens-Henager students will be nominating their heroes and pre-recording video messages about their nominees, which will be played at the event. At Hero Appreciation Day, the public will be invited to make videos recognizing their own heroes.

    "There are so many special people in the community doing little things to make a difference. At Hero Appreciation Day we will recognize these individuals. From members of the local police and fire departments, to our servicemen and servicewomen, to even our own staff and students, we wanted to take time to say 'thank you,'" said Danielle Horras, associate director at Stevens-Henager College, Boise.

    Stevens-Henager College has locations in Boise, Idaho Falls (a branch of CollegeAmerica Flagstaff), and Nampa (a satellite of Boise), which offer business, graphic arts, healthcare, and information technology degree programs. The college also has a College Education Center in Mountain Home that provides support to students enrolled in the online programs offered by Stevens-Henager's Salt Lake City/Murray campus in Utah. Approximately 650 students in the state of Idaho are enrolled in one of the college's degree programs.
