  • St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2011 - SteadyRain continues partnership with Great Rivers Greenway in a redesign of the organization's site, highlighting ongoing efforts to fulfill a mission, dedicated to making a green, clean, connected community. By creating a thoughtful, brand-focused design, SteadyRain provides the local communities an opportunity to further engage with the greenways' trail systems that continue to expand in the local region.

Great Rivers Greenway, a public organization developing an interconnected system of trails and greenways to make the region a better place to live, encompasses St. Louis City and County and St. Charles County. As a local organization dedicated to sustainability, the Great Rivers Greenway site requires complex initiatives that are best described through imagery and in-person discovery. After a consulting engagement, it was clear the old site was missing key content from the mission, information about all of the inter-connected trails that have been completed by the organization over the last ten years.

"We have served as the digital agency for Great Rivers Greenway since their inception and are proud to have been selected to, once again, bring the newest technology and best content management solutions to them," said Thompson Knox, Executive Vice President at SteadyRain. "We look forward to leveraging some of the newly embedded technologies in the site to the mobile device space next year. This will help the organziation really connect with their trail users where they spend most of their time-the trail."

To solve this, SteadyRain created a new area within the site focused on available trails and trail information. Likewise, the simple, illustrated maps across the site have been replaced with interactive maps that provide multiple layers of available data about greenways, projects and trails by utilizing the Google Maps API and GIS data developed by Great Rivers Greenway and St. Louis County. This information includes the location of trailheads, parking lots and other facilities that are very important to trail users.

SteadyRain's website design and development team gives visitors the opportunity to search for local trails and on-street bicycle routes near their homes or offices, which further helps associate these completed trails with the greenways in which visitors reside, promoting even greater exploration by users within the "River Ring".

In addition to the visitor-facing redesign, the site also improved the content management system. The migration of the site into the DotNetNuke content management system allows the Great Rivers Greenway team to update the site's content with greater ease. This is especially important, as the organization tracks about 90 miles of off-street trails, 80 miles of on-street bicycle lanes and over 1,400 acres of greenways.

The site now serves as a centralized source for information on upcoming initiatives and ongoing projects related to Great Rivers Greenway as they continue to develop the "River Ring".
