Underground Girls Of Hip Hop will bring down the house at the "2nd Annual Female Hip Hop Honors," as the best of the best in Female hip hop past, present & future come together for one legendary night.

The 2nd ANNUAL FEMALE HIP-HOP HONORS is an award show that breaks all of the rules of conventionalism. Unlike the Grammy Awards or the Billboard Music Awards, the 2nd ANNUAL FEMALE HIP-HOP HONORS were created to acknowledge and honor the achievements and contributions of legendary females in hip-hop, unsigned and independent artists within the urban music scene. Every year there are incredible records released by independent labels and artists. Very rarely do the institutional accolades of the music industry reach or embrace female hip-hop artist, independent music or the community of artists and fans who now represent 25% of all global music sales. Hence, 2nd ANNUAL FEMALE HIP-HOP HONORS was born to fill that void.

This celebration is an opportunity for the ladies of hip-hop to come together and celebrate the beauty and spirit of the female presence in the genre. This event serves as a night to celebrate the culture and the essence of their craft. The award ceremony will consist of female emcees of the past and present that have made a difference in hip-hop. We will also present (2) honorees with the UGG Hip-hop Estrogen Award. Throughout the night we will also give awards and acknowledgment to those who are making strides in the industry today.

The Pampering & Gifting Suite: A luxury pampering lounge and gifting suite in honor of the Female Hip Hop Awards' nominees, attendees, past winners, current and former host, performers and presenters will allow guests to indulge in complimentary pampering services and free gifts from sponsors. The pampering lounge and gifting suite will take place on May 20th and is brought to you by Underground Girls Of Hip Hop.

Taped at the Radisson Hotel on Saturday, May 21ST in Los Angeles, the music and influence of each of the honorees will be recognized through performances by classic artists in collaboration with today's hottest new talent.

    More About the Honorees
Our first honoree is Hip Hop Legend/ Breast Cancer Survivor, Roxanne Shante. Shanté's career began at the age of fourteen when she entered the influential world of record producer Marley Marl, radio DJ Mr. Magic, and Tyrone Williams, who were talking about how UTFO had canceled its appearance at a show that it was promoting. Shanté offered to record an answer to UTFO's recent hit "Roxanne, Roxanne," which was about a woman who rejects the members of the group. The men agreed and the result was "Roxanne's Revenge," a confrontational and profane song in which Shanté assumed the role of Roxanne, dissing UTFO over a Marley Marl-produced instrumental (The official UTFO response to its own song was "The Real Roxanne," with artist Adelaida Martinez assuming the role of Roxanne and eventually recording under the same stage name as the song title). Shanté's version and the Real Roxanne's version sparked the Roxanne Wars and made Shanté a hip-hop star in the process. The single would go on to sell over 250,000 copies in the New York area alone. One of the founding members of the Juice Crew, most of her tracks would be produced by Marley Marl, with the exception of several songs on Shanté's last album, 1992's The Bitch Is Back.

Our second honoree is accomplished Rapstress, Songstress, Songwriter, Actress, Producer, Educator, Businesswoman/CEO and the founder of "Sprinkle Me Fragrances" Tenina Stevens (a.k.a. Suga-T). She is a founding member of The Click, a rap group that also includes her brothers E-40 and D-Shot and her cousin B-Legit. In 1995 Sick Wid It signed a major label distribution deal with Jive Records, Suga-T then appeared on The Click's second album, Game Related in 1995 and released her major label debut Paper Chasin', which charted on the Billboard 200 at No. 193.
Suga-T is also owner of Suga-T Fragrances and a keynote speaker for the "Be about It Movement" (www.beaboutit.biz) mothering, educating and keeping peace and unity in the community. She is a "Pamper Certified Coach" teaching social entrepreneurship, self esteem empowerment, make over sessions, self improvement sessions and prevention methods (www.pampercertified.com) to youth and families.
