  • Champaign-Urbana, IL (1888PressRelease) April 12, 2017 - A neon-cloaked LP with a femme fatale lays in a dusty record bin in western France. A man stops and stares back at the sadistic spy duo on the cover.

He decides to take a chance at 33 revolutions per minute and in his loft, he drops the needle. The LP paints a sonic landscape of sultry subterfuge in a perverse 1950s jazz club. The man begins to translate the duo's aural message into a visual one.

Across the ocean in the United States, The Ex-Bombers are working with Cavetone Records to finalize their first tour of the summer. It is two weeks after the man had first happened upon their LP "Five Star Night" when they receive a simple message.

"Your record is what I see when I make films with found footage. In that spirit I took your original long take and British promo spot and added my flourish of new wave. Enjoy," stated the message. It was unsigned, from one artist to another.

The attached video filled 60 seconds with the starkness of French new wave cinema, the statement of early MTV, and the severity of a de Sade novela.

The mystery around the video perfectly encapsulates the sound and promotional approach of maximum minimalism. Every hypnotic frame and knowing look can be viewed at https://youtu.be/-jRcWYEh_vI
