  • West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) December 18, 2013 - Since its inception in 1961 after two French families merged to become an international brand synonymous with fine European furniture design and distribution, Roche Bobois started on its path to success. Its actions have been thoughtfully conceived, planned and executed. Its business model allows for feedback from the field and merchandise to be tailor made. Furthermore, twice a year, general managers, showroom managers, sales directors and interior designers from the company's 250 locations worldwide converge at the Roche Bobois International Congress in Europe, enabling them to see new product prototypes, line extensions and product enhancements to the two primary collections: Les Contemporains and Les Nouveaux Classiques. As with fashion's haute couture, Roche Bobois renews each collection on a regular basis. And, it is the international managers themselves who trigger the start of production based on what they order.

"Though our collections constantly evolve, we have always paired pleasure and practicality, and creativity with functionality so they are aligned with the core value of Roche Bobois: l'art de vivre (the art of living)," said Roche Bobois' General Manager, U.S. South East, Julien Bigan.

The company continues to develop its collections in close collaboration with established or emergent designers, architects, artists and other creators.

At times, Roche Bobois holds design competitions, and the winning projects, selected by a jury, are shown at the company's International Congress, giving students an opportunity to become part of the Roche Bobois collection.

Roche Bobois' International Congress is held in April and October. During these months, upper level management from all 250 locations gather, based on their geographic locations.

During a three-day trip this fall, Bigan, along with Sasha Brinkley, sales director for the two showrooms in Florida, and Gia Morales, North Palm Beach showroom manager, were flown to Paris where the new designs for next season - Spring 2014 - were presented. They joined others from the U.S. and South America. After seeing the prototypes, they and the rest of the attending managers made their selections, thus initiating production of the new furniture pieces. Once manufactured, they will be shipped to the Roche Bobois retail stores that ordered them.

"Because all the furniture is European made in France, Italy or Portugal, we then were flown to Italy where we actually saw and learned about how each piece is constructed," Brinkley noted. "This first-hand knowledge is extremely helpful to us during the retail selling process. When we return home, we can paint a true and detailed picture about the meticulous quality of Roche Bobois furnishings to our sales associates and consumers. This company really invests in its employees. I don't know of any other company that has these types of trips, for this purpose, at a frequency of every six months."

Semiannually, French Maison also presents new models for both collections and collaborates for its finest fabrics with well-known fashion designers such as Sonia Rykiel, Missoni and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Additionally, Collection Particulière by Roche Bobois is for the limited group of privileged clients who want to own a truly unique piece of furniture. They have a choice of exceptional leather hides, fine colors, and sophisticated stitching. The design and fabrication of the piece is overseen by a single person who appends the Collection Particulière label only after stringent examinations.

While Roche Bobois showrooms were originally franchised, today the majority are solely corporate owned, including the two showrooms currently operating in Florida. "Roche Bobois corporate took them over in order to ensure image consistency and service excellence globally. This has proven to be a better path for the company," Bigan concluded.

Roche Bobois' 250 showrooms (retail stores) are located in 45 countries. Twenty four are in the U.S.
