Rhea Healthcare forays into boutique birthing through "Motherhood"

  • (1888PressRelease) January 29, 2011 - Bangalore - Rhea Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. (RHL), a closely held company promoted by the family members of noted film actor Mammootty, has chalked an ambitious plan to bring world class birthing facility to India. As part of this initiative RHL today formally unveiled "Motherhood" - a boutique birthing facility in Bangalore and announced that over the next 24 months it plans to set up similar facilities in Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi.

    RHL has invested around Rs 17 crore for its Bangalore facility and committed around Rs 58 crore to fund its foray to 3 more geographies. Besides the promoter's family, a serial entrepreneur has invested in the equity of RHL and the entire funding is done through equity and debt on a 1:1 basis. The Bangalore facility was inaugurated by the Honorable Justice Shri N Santosh Hegde, (Former Judge Supreme Court of India), Lokayukta, State of Karnataka in the august presence of Mr. Mammootty.

    Talking to the media, Mr. Mammootty pointed out that, "There was a burning desire in the family to start an entrepreneurial venture that means something to the society. After lot of debate it was decided that state-of-the-art birthing facility could be appropriate as there was a big gap in the maternity services that was being offered and what the society aspired for."

    According to Ms. Surumy Sayeed, Chief Executive Officer, RHL, "Motherhood" pursues a concept wherein it offers comprehensive end-to-end solutions for mom-to-be right from the beginning of the pregnancy till the mom and child goes home. At each stage the mother to be would be provided with international pattern of doctor support which ensures that only a doctor fully acquainted with her case gets to treat her on 24/7 basis. Our facility would offer complete women & child care that addresses the physical & emotional needs of would be mothers and new born in an atmosphere of elegance and comfort."

    Sharing the values of "Motherhood", Dr. Mohammed Rehan Sayeed, Director, RHL, said "Birthing in the Indian context is associated with illness and Motherhood is keen to drive the message that birthing is a wellness aspect. We are committed to provide services that are offered globally and assure would be mothers that not only birthing would be made an experience that could be cherished life long but made painless.
