  • (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2013 - After critical successful of previous albums, Love Is and Empress by My Side, Rashanco Music is pleased to announce the arrival of renowned Jamaican Reggae Artist Papa Michigan new album TROD ON, which was officially released on July 8th.

Positive and conscious vibrations infuse each of the album's tracks, which boast an eclectic mix between infectious reggae-dancehall rhythm, soca and layers of hip hop and r n b.

Recorded mostly at Rashanco Studio in Los Angeles, TROD ON is being heralded as a masterpiece and a true reflection of Papa Michigan's 35 year old well seasoned musical artistry. It is a must have for anyone who is a fan of reggae music.

"This album was made in mind with the youths ….for them to think positive and also Africa …. To speak to the African Diaspora." Papa Michigan explained.

With this aim in mind, Papa Michigan collaborated with various talented Producers ranging from the Caribbean, Los Angeles and Europe to brilliantly help execute his vision.

The 18 track album starts off with a wonderful endorsement from the legendary Bob Marley, paying homage to the roots of Papa Michigan from the original and famous Michigan and Smiley Duo. This is fittingly followed by the 1st track "Uptown Down town", an ingenious remake of the original "One Love Jam Down" distributed on Bob Marley's 56 Hope Road label back in 1980, which speaks to the inherent social, political and human injustices.

The following tracks including the album's name sake Trod On, keeps the powerful message of perseverance, hard work, hope and peace alive and in between we are reminded of the pleasures of love and desire with the soulsy and swooning tracks "Sweet Love" , "Sexy Wid It" and "Hey Pretty Lady". The album also features the popular signature beat of the Caribbean, the soca rhythm, with waist gyrating tracks like "Big Black Bamboo" and "Carnival Wine".

The latter has become extremely popular with fans, earning overwhelming responses from audiences who readily sing and dance along to Carnival Wine's alluring call to "back it up" and "juk it up".

TROD ON, Papa Michigan's 5th album is now available at all digital record stores including Amazon and I Tunes.
