  • (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2013 - CARNATION, WA - Carnation Farmers Market, in the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley farming district, hosts a celebration to honor farmers markets across the country and their contribution to good food and good health. The celebration begins in Carnation, WA, on August 6, 2013; National Farmers Market Week is officially August 4-10.

Celebration events in Carnation, WA, begin at 3 p.m. until the market closes at 7 p.m. on August 6. Visitors will be greeted with raffles for farm fresh market goodies, an invitation to put their signature and handprints on an enormous celebratory banner, and farm-fresh cooking demonstrations - and they can have their photo taken for the Why I Love Carnation Farmers Market photo album posted to the Market's Facebook page. Visitors who bring a newcomer to the market will receive "Pins for Pals," a limited edition collectors' pin. The Summer Januaries, a musical duo with its roots in Seattle and Pike Place Market, will perform traditional American and Irish fiddle tunes throughout the day.

"The more the merrier; I hope we give away a lot of 'Pins for Pals,'" Melissa Borsting, Manager of the Carnation Farmers Market, said. "Our National Farmers Market Week Celebration will be a chance for new visitors to discover the market and a great way for everyone to express and share their love for the market with our fans, vendors, and community."

The Market's National Farmers Market Week Celebration not only observes the Carnation Farmers Market, but also helps spread awareness about the importance of local farmers markets across the country. Farmers markets directly support the local economy, farmers, and food artisans, while providing visitors and the community with fresh, nutritious food. The Carnation Farmers Market offers the community and our local farmers and food vendors a place to share and enjoy the fruits of the season with local, fresh food in a fabulous community atmosphere.
