  • (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2018 - Located in Uvalde, Texas, SWTJC is a comprehensive, public, two-year College serving eleven counties in Southwest Texas.

“It is imperative to have each of our students and staff stay secure, on and off campus. In my opinion, the Campus Safety App is a great asset to have in the hands of every person. We all have moved with times and realized that technology be it on a smartphone or through the access of internet, it does make life much comfortable and uncomplicated. This app is superb to ensure safety, and we are glad the grant has come at the right time”, said Hector E. Gonzales, President at Southwest Texas Junior College (SWTJC).

“The Campus Safety App is user-friendly and though we hope, a crime situation never arises, we are looking forward to students being more secure from now on” he added.

The Campus Consortium Grant will enable Southwest Texas Junior College to strengthen the safety and security of its students, faculty and staff. The Campus Safety App allows students to contact campus safety with the touch of a button and automatically gives campus safety the caller’s location. Students can further customize it to send alerts to their parents, guardians or friends in case of an emergency.

“The Campus Consortium Grant Committee found the right spirit in SWTJC in building its campus to a more developed and safe place for their students to thrive” stated Anjli Jain, Chairman at Campus Consortium. “The need of a dedicated safety measure is essential, therefore, the Campus Safety App will be an asset for Southwest Texas Junior College and we congratulate them once again.”

    About Southwest Texas Junior College
As far back as 1926 a few far-sighted citizens of Sabinal and Uvalde advocated a junior college for this vast Southwest Texas area to be located in Uvalde, but it was not until twenty years later that this dream became a reality. Today Southwest Texas Junior College is a comprehensive, public college serving eleven counties in Southwest Texas.
