Oaxaca FilmFest Announces Dates For 2nd Edition

Oaxaca, a main epicenter of culture in the Americas for centuries, is proud to announce the Second Edition of the OAXACA INTERNATIONAL INDEPENDENT FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL November 12-19, 2011. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) March 16, 2011 - After an amazing first year, the organizers of the Oaxaca FilmFest have set the dates for the 2011 edition.

The festival will begin November 12, 2011 at the world famous Teatro Macedonio Alcala and close out on the 19th in the Atrium Alcala. In between over 100 films will be screened in various venues around the city.

The Exclusive Festival of Southern Mexico saw an incredible inauguration year:
Over 600 Films Submitted
Over 150 Films Screened
30 Countries Represented
27 World Premiers
60% of the 2010 selection were part of other International Film Fetivals official selection
40% of the selection was an award winning film at another International Film Festival

This year Independent filmmakers from each continent will be competing for nearly $100,000 USD worth of prizes with the winner of the prestigious AGAVE award for Best Film walking away with a $30,000 USD film and equipment package, a special festival screening, syndicated media coverage, and a private screening with 25 of the industry's top distribution executives.
