Nonprofit Mobile Fitness Academy Hits the Street to Fight Childhood Obesity

  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) March 07, 2012 - This spring, Daddy's Girl, a D.C. based nonprofit organization, will be hosting a mobile Fitness Academy Program to address, and combat, the high obesity rate of girls and young women while encouraging active and healthy lifestyles for both dads and daughters. In the months of April and May, Daddy's Girl will host a variety of professionally taught fitness classes at schools throughout the Washington DC area free of charge! The program consists of three group exercise classes designed especially for fathers and daughters that focus on strength training, dance and movement, and Yoga/balance training. Every class is taught by highly trained, certified fitness trainers and fitness staff.

    Tasha McKenzie, the founder and current President of Daddy's Girl states, "We know that education is a top priority to parents. We want expand and build upon that by educating children and families of the importance of fitness beyond the core competencies of the classroom".

    Daddy's Girl hosts several special events during the year that encourages dads and daughters to engage, explore, and express while having fun and creating lifelong memories.
