  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) June 17, 2015 - Rolinda McCarthy, Owner of T&R Consulting Services, has been selected as an Honored Member of the National Association of Distinguished Professionals.

Beginning her career in Washington, DC in 1998 by providing support for organizations that didn't have an internal accountant or someone to manage the personnel issues, Rolinda McCarthy met an amazing woman named Lisa Sullivan who ran LISTEN Inc. who encouraged her to partner with them. Their small capacity building organization, which assisted organizations that were founded or run by young people of color, was where it all began for Ms. McCarthy in the non-profit sector.

"After a few years of working with them, providing the infrastructure development component, I was introduced to a few more organizations and my career just blossomed from there," Ms. McCarthy recalls.

As the owner of T&R Consulting Services, Ms. McCarthy oversees system development and administrative support. She also simultaneously visits small organizations within urban cities to either develop their core functions or reinforce them. To do this, she looks at each organization and matches its personnel, systems, and fundraising tools to their mission and values. She trains staff members, volunteer staff, board members, and ED's to advance each organization's directive, such as strategic plan development, bylaws, external control systems, HR systems, accounting protocols, etc.

Ms. McCarthy's 25-plus years of experience and training in various forms of accounting and business (general accounting, non-profit, HR development and personnel management, capacity building, facilitation, fund development, strategic planning, board development, organizational psychology, clinical psychology, and a few others) all contribute to her success as a consultant today. But her single most driving force is credited to her family.

Now in the pursuit of her PhD in Psychology, Ms. McCarthy is relocating back to the Virgin Islands to work with young people that are currently in juvenile and foster care programs.

Some of her greatest accomplishments thus far include: in 2000 she partnered with an organization with funds from The Rockefeller and The Ford Foundation to support fledging organizations in Brazil and South Africa that were started and ran by young people of color, conducting a training tour for 22 days to those organizations that needed assistance; in 2003 she partnered with an organization to start and run the first HOPE grant through the Department of Justice office of Victim Services to fund and train 50 organizations that work with victims of crime; in 2010 she began working with a small organization that helps reform many laws in Florida that impact children with disabilities.
